Floor Gallery

A temporary installation in which users walk across a floor to discover the art piece being projected. In the dark, as you move, only the user can bring the art to life.

Behind the Scenes

This project was a collaborative project between Quinny He and I.

Using an IR camera mounted above, and therefore computer vision in processing, we tracked a user as they walked across the floor. A projector was mounted above as well, so as the user was tracked, the image of "the Kiss" by Klimt was displayed bit by bit. The installation took place in a completely dark room, and the ambiance created brought a calm to all of us.

This idea was meant to be a prototype of a whole musuem that would function this way. Various famous paintings displayed, and could only be fully realized by users exploring in the dark.
